Kids In Together Empower (K.I.T.E)

After receiving a lot of inquiries for children to attend counselling from parents within our community.

We decided to make it one of our goals to provide a service for children but felt for most one to one counselling whilst had a place for some, most would benefit more from group work with their peers.

These became our Mental health youth clubs and were named K.I.T.E, We feel these groups will help children feel supported, able to talk openly about their experiences with out fear or judgement, developing coping strategies and a peer network.

General Information

Mental health issues in children is on the raise in the U.K with less safe places for them to be able to look at these issues.

Children are affected by the same mental health issues as adults are e.g. Bereavement, Anxiety, Depression, Bullying, being a carer.

We believe if you can help children learn about their mental health and show them it is okay to talk about their mental health, you are saving them from a life time of poor mental health issues.

By offering a safe place to go to look and talk about their difficulties they begin to feel empowered and develop their own mental health.

The youth club will help to take the stigma away from these children that they may feel or have come across from others. it will also help develop their talking and social skills, combat isolation and promote community cohesion.

Each child will have access to the youth club for 12 weeks, by the end of their time with us, They will have developed friendships and a network that can continue outside of the youth club. As well as developed coping strategies that will help them in the future. This will enable us to reach more children and work towards endings, so the children do not become dependable on the club. We want them to learn and develop using the skills they have learnt with us to enrich their own lives.

All activities within the youth clubs will be mental health related as well as age appropriate, ensuring we remain in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

Counsellors will be running the youth clubs to ensure, everyone is safe and has someone to talk to on a more confidential level if needed. All counsellors are fully DBS checked and insured.
